It is the ideal consolation prize for MPs who have missed a ministerial post. They become Vice-Presidents, Secretary or Members of Parliament. A colorless side job, but it does provide them with an extra monthly salary of about 2,000 euros net. And the exuberant wages for parliament presidents are an old sore in Belgian politics.
