200 Doses of Anti-Rabies Vaccine Administered and Pets Chipped at Municipal Community Center in Rio Grande

RIO GRANDE.- At the initiative of the Secretariat of Citizen Management, a vaccination and chipping day was held at the B° Aeropuerto Municipal Community Center, which culminated in a significant number of dogs and cats being immunized.

The event took place at the Municipal Community Center in the Aeropuerto neighborhood.

The activity targeted canines and felines from the age of 3 months that had never been vaccinated or had their rabies vaccine expired. In addition, reading chips were placed on the animals treated and antiparasitic pills were given. The purpose of this action was to advance the prevention of zoonotic diseases in the city and promote, in turn, responsible pet ownership.

The call was broad, reaching the delivery of 200 doses of anti-rabies vaccine. Likewise, the pets that were chipped were added to the Municipal Registry maintained by the Veterinary Services area.

The Secretary of Citizen Management, Gonzalo Ferro, highlighted that “we are committed to bringing municipal services closer to where the need exists. In this case, deepening the Comprehensive Program on Responsible Pet Ownership in the neighborhoods.”

These campaigns seek to prevent zoonotic diseases.

In addition, Ferro recalled that “in the coming months we will be inaugurating the work that is in the final stage of execution of the new Veterinary Services Annex in the CAP neighborhood. “Which will allow us to permanently strengthen these services in the southern area of ​​the city.”

The Undersecretary of Services and Citizen Security, Javier Calisaya, said that “through this conference we address two fundamental axes of management. On the one hand, responsible ownership with the placement of chips; and on the other hand the prevention of zoonotic diseases, not only to take care of pets but also of neighbors.” Meanwhile, he assured that “the objective is to give continuity to this initiative and bring it closer to different parts of the city.”
