2 Indonesian Hackers Breached US-Owned Covid-19 Social Assistance Site, USD 60 Million Entered Actor’s Account

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.TV – The United States government’s website for handling Covid-19 was faked.

As a result, aid from the United States government amounting to 500 million dollars was misdirected and entered the accounts of the perpetrators.

The disclosure of this case was the result of cooperation between the East Java Regional Police and the FBI.

The perpetrator’s mode of creating fake websites such as the official website of the United States and then taking personal data from residents affected by the pandemic.

Armed with stolen data, the perpetrators asked the government for help from the impact of the pandemic totaling more than 500 million US dollars.

Currently, the police are still investigating the alleged involvement of other parties, including foreign nationals.

The United States government’s Covid-19 aid site fraudster was arrested in East Java.

With data from US citizens affected by the pandemic, the perpetrators applied for assistance from the United States government.

Aid funds also went to the accounts of the two perpetrators, namely 60 million and 420 million US dollars.
