Two Dutch League club captains refuse to wear rainbow captain’s armbandwhich is blurred LGBTQ + in the Eredivisie game at the weekend.
One of which is Orkun Kokcu who is the captain Feyenoord then. Kokcu, who is also of Azerbaijani ancestry, actually wore the Feyenoord captain’s armband in the previous five games. But religious reasons prevented the 21-year-old from wearing it against AZ Alkmaar last week.

“I still feel important to emphasize that I respect everyone regardless of their beliefs, background or life choices. I believe that people are free to act as they want. I fully understand the importance of this action, but religious issues make me feel I am not the person just to do it (use the rainbow captain’s armband). “

“I know that I will not be able to immediately erase people’s feelings (to action). But I hope that my choice, motivated by religious reasons, will also be respected,” he said.
Kokcu isn’t the only Eredivisie captain who refuses to wear it rainbow captain’s armband in the Eredivisie party at the weekend. There is also Redouan El Yaakoubi who don’t want to wear the captain’s armband that symbolizes the One Love movement for the LGBTQ community.
