2 CDI transformed into Intensive Care Units for the care of patients with Covid-19 in Maracaibo

He Bolivarian Government enabled 2 Comprehensive Diagnosis Centers (CDI) as Intensive Care Units to care for patients with Covid-19, informed the director of Health of the Maracaibo municipality, Zulia state, Lismar Rojas.

From the CDI Corito, he expressed: “To get ahead of the issue of the spread of the virus, we have been strengthening the health system to have a number of spaces that are at the service of the population.”

Rojas recalled that they are executing a recovery plan for the 25 existing comprehensive health centers in Maracaibo, of which 20 are ready.

He assured that they are aware that 5% of patients may require intensive care, for this reason infrastructure work is carried out “that allows us to have the equipment and supplies necessary to care for this type of patient.”

The Director of Health of the Maracaibo municipality explained that the observation area was converted into an Intensive Care Unit and each of the beds has a fan, monitor and infusion pump, while the rehabilitation room will be converted into a care room. intermediate.

He added in the Zulia capital, 16 hotels have been set up to care for asymptomatic patients, “thus leaving the most serious cases that need to be ventilated for sentinel hospitals.”

For the Ministry of Health, it is important to keep personnel who work directly with Covid-19 patients protected with all the necessary biosecurity mechanisms and avoid contagion, he said.

On the other hand, he referred to the support of the Cuban medical mission with the Che Guevara Brigade, which has four components in the town, “one brigade is in the communities doing the approach for the epidemiological fence, another is in the sentinel hospital with care in the recently inaugurated Intensive Care Room.”

He stressed that the Secretary of Health already has all the highly qualified Cuban-Venezuelan personnel to carry out their care tasks in the two authorized offices.

The Bolivarian Government, he said, has been executing actions to guarantee that the population has an available health system for quality care. / JB
