18-Year-Old Slasher of SMK Student in Bogor Sentenced to 9 Years in Prison

ASR alias Tukul (18), slasher of SMK students, Arya Saputra, at Simpang Pomad, Bogor sentenced to 9 years in prison. The victim’s family was disappointed with the verdict, and even became hysterical.

Tukul’s verdict trial was held at the Bogor District Court, West Java, Monday (12/6/2023). monitoring detikcom, the verdict hearing with the child defendant ASR alias Tukul was held at around 10.40 WIB. Tukul, who was wearing a shirt with the words ‘Prisoner’ on it, began to sit in the prison chair. He seemed to keep his head down throughout the trial.

On Tukul’s right side, a legal adviser is seen accompanying him. However, the presence of the hammer parents was not seen, neither the mother nor the father. While in the back row of seats, the parents of Arya Saputra’s stabbing victims were seen.

The courtroom, which was not large enough, prevented most of the victims’ families from entering the courtroom. They were seen standing waiting in front of the door under the guard of police officers.

The judge stated that Tukul was found guilty of committing violence against the child resulting in the victim’s loss of life.

“Today a decision was issued stating that the child on behalf of ASR alias Tukul was proven legally and convincingly guilty of committing the crime of committing violence against children which resulted in death as stated in the first alternative indictment,” said Public Relations of the PN. Bogor Daniel Mario, Monday (12/6/2023).

“Second, imposing a criminal sentence on a child is therefore a prison sentence for a child for 9 years at the LPKA Bandung child training institution and a year’s job training,” he added.

The judge also charged the defendant a trial fee of Rp. 5,000. The sentence period will be reduced by the length of time the accused is in custody.

“Stipulates the period of arrest and detention that has been served by the child, deducted in full from the sentence imposed, then the child remains in custody. All evidence is returned to the public prosecutor to be used in cases on behalf of Salman Alfarizi alias Aman. Last point, charge all court fees to Rp. 5,000 for children,” said Daniel.

Sentence Higher than the Prosecutor’s Demands

This sentence is higher than the prosecutor’s demands. Prosecutors previously demanded Tukul be jailed for 7 years and 6 months.

“We are also a bit shocked because this has increased. From the initial charge of 7.5 years from the prosecutor, it has now increased to 9 years,” said Tukul’s attorney, Endeh Herdiani, at the Bogor District Court, Monday (12/6).

He said the panel of judges handed down a heavier sentence because ASR had committed other crimes before. He said his client also did not apologize for his actions.

“One of them was that in court it was revealed that our client had committed crimes twice. Second, our client did not immediately come to apologize. That’s what we caught. Neither from himself nor from his family did they immediately apologize to the victim,” he said.

Endeh is a legal advisor from PN Bogor for the defendant Tukul. Endeh admits that he is still thinking about the appeal.

“Actually my client regrets what he did. But if now the charges have to be increased, we can’t do anything. Maybe that’s the best that the judge can give,” said Endeh.

“We, as attorneys, have provided maximum assistance to Tukul’s child. Even though we didn’t ask to be released, at least it went down or remained (according to the prosecutor’s demands),” he added.
