But to understand, even on April 15 there were 332,684 new vaccinations.
If it is true that the goal of the 2021 vaccination campaign is to be able to immunize at least 80% of the population, with 500 thousand injections per day, in mid-April already 10 million and 900 thousand Italians – that is a sixth of the total – received at least one dose and 4.4 million of them also the recall. Among the over 70s, the percentage who had at least the first injection reached 50%.
But considering only those over 80 about 80 percent have already received their first administration.

The inoculated doses so far (14.9 million) represent 86.1% of those delivered. The promoted regions
With the engine gaining speed, that’s it various Regions registered many more injections than the assigned target on 16 April: from Umbria, which has made almost twice as many, to Puglia, Campania, Tuscany. Lombardy, Veneto, Liguria, Emilia Romagna, Sicily, Lazio and Piedmont also promoted, which passed the stress tests decided by the Emergency Commissioner, General Francesco Paolo Figliuolo. It must be said that the 5 regions and autonomous provinces that traveled slightly below their potential (Abruzzo, Friuli, Bolzano, Trento, Valle d’Aosta) in the previous days had also done very well. There is a fundamental reason why the Regions have started running: in the first quarter of the vaccination campaign, from the end of December to March, 14 million 286 thousand doses of vaccine arrived in Italy, including Pfizer, Moderna and AstraZeneca. In the second quarter, from April to June, 52 million doses will arrive according to forecasts. More than 10 million in April alone. For this, now you can always vaccinate with less prudence, without the fear of being left with empty refrigerators. The doses of Moderna arrive
From today, for example, another 400,000 doses of Moderna will be distributed to the Regions, which arrived last night in Pratica di Mare. IS if on Tuesday the EMA also gives the green light to Johnson & Johnson, the 184 thousand doses of Janssen serum will soon be distributed still frozen in the military hub after the international suspension due to the suspected correlation with some cases of thrombosis.
New vaccination points
But there is another fact that explains the increase in the rate of administration: the growth of vaccine points. Now in Italy we have reached 2,276: 843 more than at the end of February, 102 more than a week ago. And they will grow even more when companies become vaccination hubs: 680 are already screened according to logistical and health criteria. Our country, however, still behind the main European countries, according to the site Our World in Data: before us Germany, France and Spain. On Thursday, Germany administered more than 738,000 vaccines in 24 hours, thanks also to the work of family doctors.
