154 new infections, 21 hospitalizations and 15 deaths on June 7, 2020

Like every day since mid-March, the Belgian health institute Sciensano has published statistics on cases of coronavirus infections.

On Saturday June 6, 154 new cases were reported. 91 patients live in Flanders, 33 in Wallonia and 30 in Brussels. The total number of confirmed cases is 59,226.

The situation is as follows:

  • A total of 571 patients are currently hospitalized. 21 new hospitalizations have been recorded in the last 24 hours.
  • A total of 111 patients are in intensive care, a decrease of 10 patients in the past 24 hours.
  • 16,291 patients have been discharged from hospital and have been declared cured since March 15, an increase of 101 over the past 24 hours.
  • A total of 9,595 deaths have been reported, an increase of 15 deaths in the past 24 hours. Of the deaths in the past 24 hours, 8 have occurred in hospital, 7 in a nursing home. In this last group, 71% was confirmed by a COVID-19 test.
  • Of the 9,595 people who died, 48% died in hospital, 50% in a nursing home, 0.5% in other residential communities, and 0.6% at home and elsewhere. Most hospital deaths (95%) are confirmed cases. Deaths in nursing homes include 26% of confirmed cases and 74% of suspected cases.
