15-year-old pointed the finger – led to a police hunt in Örebro

It was at 6 pm on Tuesday evening that a 15-year-old moped rider approached a police officer in a police car in central Örebro.

The police write on their website that the moped rider pointed a finger and provoked a police chase. The driver of the police car alerted several patrols, including a colleague on a motorcycle.

The moped that the teenage boy was riding turned out to be tuned. When the police motorcycle came up on the side of it, the moped rider must have kicked on several occasions, “to get him as it is judged out of balance”, the police write.

The hunt ended on the lawn

During the hunt, the teenager is said to have driven towards a red light, driven into a car, driven into a courtyard and later out onto a lawn. Once on the grass, the vehicle skidded, after which he started running from there.

However, the police caught up with the 15-year-old, who was arrested at the scene.

According to Stefan Wickberg, press spokesperson at the police in Bergslagen, similar incidents are not uncommon.

– I have worked 29 years in external service and this kind of thing you come across from time to time. It is a huge problem, he says.

– This raises the question of when to ignore and when to intervene. It’s a safety issue, it must not happen to the 15-year-old. But at the same time, the police must be able to intervene.

The teenage boy is now suspected of gross negligence in traffic, violence against an official and illegal driving. More criminal suspicions may also arise.

– It is a moped that went far too fast and it is not allowed either. That is an example, but we cannot rule out more. The investigation must show that, says Stefan Wickberg.
