Police arrested four poachers in the Mill area on Sunday night. When the officers checked a men’s car, they found a bag containing 15 dead hares. They would have been mauled by six greyhounds.
Police have long received reports of possible poaching in the Mill area. Poachers searched the meadows for wild animals with special light boxes and then sent their dogs to them.
In an action organized by the police together with various law enforcement officers, he was quickly shot down Sunday night. Around the two BOAs he saw two cars with beams of light shining on the lawns.
Frontal collision
When the agents decided to check the cars, one of the cars took off quickly. The other also tried to escape, almost crashing into the police car and then colliding head-on with the executors’ car. The occupiers, two people from Eindhoven aged 23 and 33, were subsequently arrested. A third person managed to escape, ran away and is still missing.
The poachers’ car was completely destroyed by the impact. After checking, it turned out that the car was made specifically for poaching, for example with extra lighting. The officers also found a sack with fifteen hares killed with bites and lacerations in the back seat.
Chase
Moments later, the security officers saw the second car driving. A brief chase ensued, which ended in a dry ditch in front of the runaway car. There, the police managed to arrest a 62-year-old man from Helmond and a 34-year-old man from Nistelrode.
The four are suspected of attempted murder or aggravated assault, driving with false license plates and cruelty to animals. The six greyhounds they had with them were all confiscated.
