Wang Jeong, deputy head of the department of cardiothoracic surgery at Guangzhou University Hospital of China, requested a set of CT scans that revealed the presence of a foreign object stuck in the girl’s right lung.
The surgeon Yang Ming conducted a speculum for the girl to determine the foreign object, which lasted 30 minutes, as he evacuated a tube with light and a small camera from her mouth through the bronchial tubes to the lungs.
Dr. Ming was able to find the mysterious object in the girl’s right lung, and when he took it out it turned out to be a 2-cm piece of chicken bone.
Doctors suggested that the bone might have entered the girl’s lung when she was young by inhaling it through the nose.
