The Guimarães court convicted a man “with an unstructured life” for violating his friend who allowed him to stay overnight, giving him an effective sentence of four and a half years in prison, the Regional Prosecutor said today.
“The court found it proved that the defendant, on May 16, 2020, at 4:20 am, on the pretext of needing to rest, took shelter at the victim’s home, a friend of hers residing in a parish in Guimarães”, reports the Regional Attorney do Porto, on its website.
He also considered it proved that, at around 6:00 am, when the woman was getting ready to go to work, “he approached her, grabbed her and held her arms, forcibly removed her clothes and had sexual relations with her. ”.
The court excludes the possibility of suspending the sentence (a possible decision up to five years in prison) taking into account “the criminal background of the accused, and the detached personality of the legal duty that follows from them, as well as the unstructured life he presented” .
