Big resources have been deployed to find Magali Blandin (© National Gendarmerie)
The days go by and Magali Blandin cannot be found. This 42-year-old woman has not given any news since Wednesday February 10, 2021 and has been missing since Thursday 11 in Monfort-sur-Meu, west of Rennes.
New means for the investigation
Monday 22, judicial information in search of the causes of the disappearance was opened with an examining magistrate of Rennes, under whose authority the investigations are continuing, specifies the public prosecutor, Philippe Astruc. New resources will be made available to investigators to help find the forty-something.
At the same time, the research system will gradually be lightened. On Sunday, Colonel Sébastien Jaudon, commander of the Ille-et-Vilaine gendarmerie group, told news Rennes that a score of gendarmes were still mobilized a few days, in particular along the rivers.
No preferred or excluded hypothesis
After raking 10 km2 of fields, woods and banks, the police focus on the two rivers, the Meu and the Garun, in search of clues.
For the moment, no hypothesis is favored, whether accidental, linked to suicide or voluntary disappearance, or even to the malicious intervention of a third party.
Complicated family background
However, Magali Blandin’s family background has shed a little more light on her personal situation. Separated from her husband since September and in the process of divorce, she had a complicated relationship with him (a complaint for domestic violence had been filed and dismissed). However, the latter was exonerated by justice.
The day before her disappearance, Magali had “difficult telephone contact with her children,” according to the prosecutor. The elders, aged 12 and 14, had also revealed “a climate of strong tension with Ms. Blandin”. Did this context play a role in the disappearance? The investigators do not exclude it.
