The drugs were hidden in a container from Ecuador loaded with bananas. That container arrived on Saturday with a seagoing vessel from Antwerp and was destined for a company in The Hague. The OM does not think that company is involved in the smuggling.

Destroyed
The HARC team, a partnership of Customs, FIOD, Seaport Police and the Public Prosecution Service in Rotterdam, is investigating the case further. The drugs have since been destroyed.
Last year, the HARC team intercepted a total of 33,732 kilos of cocaine in the port of Rotterdam. This nearly doubled the amount of drugs found in 2018, when the team intercepted 18,947 kilos of cocaine.

The drugs are almost always hidden in containers with a different load, ranging from fruit, frozen chicken legs or tree trunks, to lime juice, fish, soapstone and Volkswagen Beetles.
