11 residents die in a Toulon nursing home

Since October 20, 11 residents of the Les Pléiades nursing home in Toulon have died from the coronavirus. 78 other residents are now carriers of the virus, including 29 have symptoms according to the LNA Santé group, owner of this establishment located in the Claret district. The epidemic is also affecting staff : 26 employees were also diagnosed positive. This retirement home housed, before the epidemic, 105 dependent elderly people.

Residents with symptoms are not hospitalized but “placed under close medical supervision” even within the nursing home, according to LNA Santé, which adds that three test campaigns have been organized since October 20. The negative residents are still negative according to the latest results received this Wednesday, November 4.

Staff reinforcement

These tests also concern the personnel of the Pleiades: 26 employees have been affected by the epidemic. Confined to their homes for at least 7 days, some of them begin to return to work. The residence also receives reinforcements from the staff of the Cap d’Or clinic in La Seyne-sur-Mer and from liberal nurses.

Some families of residents wonder why visits are still allowed? “Visits are maintained but restricted” corrects LNA Health. Families should ask the management for permission before coming to see their relatives.
