11 people die from dengue hemorrhagic fever, Palembang health bureau asks community to apply 3 million

Palembang, Detiksumsel. com — A total of 11 people were reported dead by the Palembang Health Service during 2022 due to cases of dengue haemorrhagic fever (DHF).

Infectious disease prevention and control chief at Palembang city health bureau Yudhi Setiawan said as many as 904 cases, 462 patients aged 5 to 14, while 314 cases of patients aged 15 and 44 years old in 2022 were exposed to DHF.

“However, the dengue cases in December 2022 are slightly higher than in December last year. This happened because the rainfall in December 2022 was higher than in previous years,” said Yudhi

Aside from high rainfall, which can lead to more nests of mosquito larvae in the community, lack of public awareness of implementing the 3Ms (drain, close, bury) is one factor in the increase in dengue cases.

“Most of the DHF cases are found in Ilir Timur II sub-district, Plaju and Kalidoni sub-districts,” he explained.

It is known, 102 cases were recorded in July 2022, 84 cases in August, 62 cases in September, 53 cases in October, 74 cases in November and decreased in December 2022, that is 57 cases of DHF.

This year, to anticipate a rise in dengue cases, Yudhi said his party has issued a circular calling on the public to eradicate mosquito larvae by implementing 3M.

The circular letter was also signed by Ratu Dewa’s secretary.

“This circular letter will later be forwarded to the sub-district head and the head of RT,” said Yudhi
