A 104-year-old New Yorker who survived stage 4 melanoma and the Spanish flu, not to mention two broken hips, recently recovered from Covid-19, reports CBS.

Ida Acconciamessa, 104, is recovering from a severe form of Covid-19 in her retirement home, Shipshead Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, in New York, the CBS television reported.

Tested positive for Covid-19, she then had to receive oxygen, went through a period of weakness where she could not even eat or speak.

But a month later, she is recovering from the virus and it would not be surprising, according to her daughter, Barbara Senese, who recalls that her mother had already survived the Spanish flu, a stage 4 melanoma, a pseudomembranous colitis and that she had two broken hips in the past.

“At 104, I think it’s a miracle to survive Covid-19. We have people between the ages of 40 and 50 who die from coronavirus. So at 104 – it’s wonderful that she could have survived all of this, ”said Marco Perrone, head of the nursing service in the retirement home cited by the CBS.

One of the oldest survivors

Ida Acconciamessa is one of the oldest patients to have had Covid-19 worldwide.

Earlier, the media announced that a 106-year-old Ile-de-France resident, Hélène Lefèvre, dean of an Ehpad in the Yvelines region, recovered from coronavirus without being hospitalized.

Another 106-year-old woman, who also survived the Spanish flu in the early 1900s, recovered from the Covid-19 in a retirement home in Spain.
