1,000 Prisoners Class 1 Tangerang Check for HIV/AIDS and TB

TANGERANGNEWS.com–A total of 1,000 Correctional Inmates (WBP) or inmates at the Tangerang Class I Detention Center in Taban Village, Jambe District, Tangerang Regency, took part in the HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis (TB) health examination held by the Tangerang District Health Office.

Head of Disease Prevention and Control at the Tangerang District Health Office, dr. Hendra Tarmizi said the screening was carried out in commemoration of World AIDS Day. “This health check is held for two days, then today we will carry out a health check, starting from HIV and tuberculosis,” said Hendra, Wednesday 1 December 2021.

Hendra explained that this activity aims to detect early spread of HIV and TB as well as sexually transmitted infections to the inmates, as well as to check the health of the inmates to find out any diseases or disorders that the inmates may have.

“If any inmates are detected positive, we (Health Department) will carry out further examinations and cooperate with the detention clinic to assist in providing treatment at the detention clinic,” he said.

Head of the Class 1 Tangerang Detention Center (Rutan Jambe), Fonika Affandi said, as many as 1,000 WBP were screened for TB-HIV accompanied by 65 officers from the Disease Prevention and Control Team from the Tangerang District Health Office and the Health Team from the Class I Tangerang Detention Center Clinic.

“We thank you very much for the assistance and cooperation of the Disease Management Team of the Tangerang District Health Office in carrying out TB-HIV screening activities. Let’s apply a healthy lifestyle together, because healthy living starts with ourselves,” he said.

With this screening activity, it is hoped that WBP can continue to maintain and really pay attention to health conditions and continue to implement a healthy lifestyle.

“You must apply a healthy lifestyle in carrying out activities. Because transmission and prevention can start from ourselves, it is better to prevent than to treat,” said Fonika.
