A group of around a hundred young people besieged the town hall of Urk on Saturday evening and pelted them with stones and heavy fireworks. The damage is in the thousands of euros.
The Urk police called on the help of colleagues from other municipalities during the uproar. The National Unit was also called up. He sent four cars to Urk. Police say the youngsters were already gone when officers came to the town hall.
No arrests have yet been made. The police are looking for witnesses. The images are camera images of the destruction. These have been handed over to the police.
The reason for the upsurge is not yet clear. According to Flevoland broadcaster a link is made on social media with the recent closure of some youth clubs. Two clubs are temporarily closed and a third youth club must be closed permanently according to the municipality due to violation of the number of visitors and the presence of drugs, weapons and / or fireworks.
