World of Warcraft has been around for so long, with innumerable Expansions and a world that has almost no end. But have you already been able to find secrets in this world? Easter eggs or funny glitches? We’ve got ten fun facts for you from Blizzard’s flagship that you probably didn’t know!

1. Scooby Dooooo

The teleportation item Jaina’s locket from Icecrown Citadel is very similar to the collar that Scooby Doo wears.

2. Dance club

All of the dances for each race and gender are either taken from musicians or from films. Here is a small excerpt:

  • Night Elf Man: Billie Jean by Michael Jackson
  • Goblinfrau: Single Ladies von Beyonce
  • Orkmann: U Can’t Touch This von MC Hammer
  • Undead man: Heavy metal headbanging
  • Dwarf woman: Riverdance

3. Master of the Universe

In the lower region of Shattrath there are two NPCs that are a reference to the animated series He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. Adam Eternum (Alliance) can be found on his mount, which bears a great resemblance to He-Man’s Battle Cat, and Keldor the Lost (Horde), who claims that Adam Eternum stole his “gray skull”: a reference to Grayskull Castle of the series.

A deer named Bambina can be found in the grizzly hills. It follows its mother along with the skunk Flora and the hare Drummler. If you follow them, a scripted event happens: A hunter shoots Bambina’s mother and Bambina falls into a blood frenzy, which leads to the spell “Bambina’s Vengeance”. This is of course a reference to Disney’s Bambi!

5. Beam me up!

There is an NPC in Stormwind City by the name of Lenny “Fingers” McCoy. An obvious reference to Dr. Leonard “Bones” McCoy from Star Trek: The Original Series.

6. Behind the scenes

Gnomeregan hides hidden binary messages like “play more WoW”, “Help, I’m trapped in a binary stamp card factory”, “The king of the gnomes wears night elf underwear” and “Thrall and Jaina are in a tree and K. U.SSEN “.

As an April joke in 2008, Blizzard unveiled a second hero class for Wrath of the Lich King, the Bard. Players would use two-handed axes as guitars with the hero and the interface was similar to that of games like Guitar Hero or Rock Band.

8. Witching hour

In the ruins of Lordaeon, ghost voices can be heard near the throne. The votes are said to come from King Terenas and Prince Arthas. If you go into the courtyard and use a spell there to detect invisibility, you can see all the spirits of the citizens of Lordaeron. This is a reference to Warcraft 3: Reign of Chaos. In it, King Terenas is killed by a possessed Arthas and the city was destroyed by monsters.

On the release day of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, guards in the cities of Orgrimmar and Stormwind wore swords that resembled lightsabers in celebration of the day. Stormwind guards wore blue lightsabers, and those from Orgrimmar wore red ones.

10. Moose Attack!

The then 12-year-old Norwegian Hans Jürgen Olsen saved himself and his sister from an elk attack by using his WoW skills. Hans and his sister accidentally entered the elk’s territory and the moose attacked. Hans teased the moose to draw his attention to himself and away from his sister and then pretended to be dead so that the moose lost interest. In World of Warcraft (buy now 14,99 € ) Mockery is used to get an opponent’s attention and faking death is used to trick opponents into thinking you are dead.
