The fire brigade depot on Zürcher Neubrunnenstrasse is to be used as a 24-hour watch until the North Guard is in operation. The city council has approved a property loan of 1.863 million francs for the necessary renovation.

The rescue workers from Schutz & Rettung Zürich must be able to reach their place of work within 10 minutes in an emergency. In the north of the city, this requirement is no longer met, as the city council announced on Wednesday. The North Guard with central operational logistics is expected to start operations in 2025.

Until then, the fire department depot in Zurich-Seebach is to serve as an external location for the airport guard in 24-hour operation. For this purpose, a conversion and an extension with a temporary container with relaxation rooms is planned. The work should take place between August and November 2021. The costs for the dismantling are already included in the loan.
