1-1 – Lone Star: Season 2 starts on Sky 1

Today, Wednesday, March 31st, the second season of the 9-1-1 spin-off 9-1-1: Lone Star celebrates its German premiere on Sky 1. Eight fresh episodes of both series were initially announced.

It starts with the episode Back in the Saddle. The 126 crew has to deal with a tank that is wreaking havoc in downtown Austin. There is also an incident at a roller derby. Tommy Vega (Gina Torres) joins the team as the new paramedic captain. Meanwhile, Owen Strand (Rob Lowe; Parks and Recreation) celebrates a reunion with his ex-wife Gwyneth (Lisa Edelstein) and receives an update on his cancer.

The medic Captain Michelle Blake, played by Liv Tyler, is no longer part of the new episodes. The just mentioned new character played by Torres (Suits, Pearson, Firefly) replaces them. She was about to quit her job to raise her twins. Then, however, her husband’s restaurant goes under, which in turn forces her to fight the rampant coronavirus.

Showrunner Tim Minear explains: “What a thrill it was to have a movie star of Liv Tyler’s caliber helping us establish the first season of ‘9-1-1: Lone Star’! We loved working with Liv and will forever be indebted to her for her engaging and powerful performance as Michelle Blake. We were able to tell a full chapter of Michelle’s story, but we think, as with Connie Britton in the mother’s series, that there are more stories to tell. So the door is always open to return.“Minear means by the closed chapter the saga of Michelle Blake’s missing sister, which was solved at the end of the first season.

The third episode also features the first crossover with the mother series. As a wildfire spreads in Texas, Buck (Oliver Stark), Hen (Aisha Hinds) and Eddie (Ryan Guzman) from Los Angeles come to Austin to help Captain Strand (Rob Lowe) and Unit 126. While the team tries to rescue a group of teenagers trapped in a fire in a campground, Owen and Hen fight for their lives together after a helicopter crash.
