According to the police, the fire brigade who dispatched Sergeant Byeon was found dead in his home at 5:49 pm that day.
Sangsang-gu’s Mental Health Center reported it to the fire department because it was strange that Sergeant Byeon, who was a consultant, had attempted an extreme choice and that news had been cut off since the 28th of last month.
The fire department believes that a considerable amount of time has elapsed since the death of the former sergeant by delaying the body’s corruption.
It is said that no will was found at the site. Police are investigating the exact details of the death.
Sergeant Byeon, who was a member of a former army unit in the northern part of Gyeonggi Province, went abroad during his vacation in 2019 and returned after undergoing sex change surgery, hoping to “continue to serve”. However, the military conducted a compulsory investigation on changes in the body of the sergeant Byeon, and made a decision of level 3 mental and physical disability, and decided to discharge in January last year.
Sergeant Byeon filed a personnel appeal at the Army Headquarters in February last year, saying, “Please re-examine,” but the Army did not accept that “the entire disposition was legally carried out in accordance with the mandatory screening standards and discharge screening procedures stipulated in the Military Justice Act.”
Sergeant Byun filed a lawsuit against the Chief of Staff of the Army against the Chief of Staff of the Army in the Daejeon District Court, which is a court under the jurisdiction of Gyeryong University, on August 11 last year with the help of the’Joint Countermeasure Committee for the Reinstatement of Transgender Soldiers Byun Hee-soo.
The second division of the Daejeon District Law Administration (Director Judge Oh Young-pyo) was scheduled to proceed with the first defense of this lawsuit on the 15th of next month.
