Jeju Police Agency installs thermal video surveillance equipment all over the coast

The police spent 24.6 billion won to install thermal video surveillance equipment on major coastal areas to border the Jeju coast.
It means that we will accurately identify ships in distant seas, but as a result of YTN’s coverage, it turned out that performance was poor, unlike the original proposal from the company.
The auditor initiated an investigation.

A peak near Jeju Port where the sea of Jeju can be seen.
The 10m high pylon is equipped with thermal imaging equipment, TOD.
It is a device that can identify the congestion of ships and even crew members in distant seas day and night by using infrared rays.
It is an expensive TOD of over 270 million won per unit.
The Jeju Provincial Police Agency spent 24.6 billion won last year and installed a total of 12 along the coast.
Its purpose is to fill the gap between the coastal boundaries caused by the abolition of the Ui economy.
The manufacturer is LG CNS.

What about the actual performance?
This is the final performance evaluation video of the police and manufacturers secured by YTN.
People are walking from about 400m away, but only the movement is barely visible.
The sea observation situation is more serious.
The hazy dotted line floats, but if it doesn’t move occasionally, it might be a ship.
Even images taken from different locations have only the difference in light size, but the quality is poor.

This is a proposal submitted by LG CNS to the Jeju Office.
It is written that it is possible to recognize people 5km away, regardless of day or night, and recognize and distinguish ships outside 15km.
Why is there a difference between the proposal and the actual performance?
Jeju Office blamed the weather.

LG CNS explained that there is no other choice but to differ from the actual monitoring performance because separate video settings are not set according to the weather on the day of the final evaluation.
However, the evaluation of the police coast guard in charge of operating the TOD is different.
