It has been confirmed that the government is in the process of negotiating purchases with’Novavex’ of the United States other than the four pharmaceutical companies already announced to secure additional vaccine supplies.

Pfizer and Janssen, who have already signed a purchase agreement for 14 million people, have decided to sign a final deal next week.

The COVID-19 vaccine that the government has secured so far was for 44 million people, or 85% of our people.

It has been confirmed that the government is in negotiations with the US pharmaceutical company’NovaVax’ to secure additional vaccines.
A government official said, “We are negotiating to introduce at least 10 million NovaVax vaccines.”
The’NovaVax’ vaccine is a’synthetic antigen’ vaccine that induces an immune response by administering part of an antigenic protein, and its manufacturing method is different from the four vaccines that the government secured earlier.
Although phase 3 clinical trials are still in progress, the clinical trial is expected to end within the first quarter of next year, and it seems to reflect that it is being produced in Korea.
Contracts with pharmaceutical companies that have already signed a vaccine purchase agreement are also running smoothly.

“In the case of Pfizer and Janssen, agreements on the contract are in progress until now. We will be able to confirm the contract and announce the details of the contract between now and then…”
Government officials said they plan to sign a final contract with Pfizer and Janssen as early as next week.
The number of vaccines secured is 10 million for Pfizer and 4 million for Janssen.
However, Modena, which has received a promise of supply for 10 million people, is said to have a final contract in January of next year.
Corona vaccine will be introduced sequentially starting with AstraZeneca in February and February next year.
The vaccine for 10 million people through’CoVax Facility’, a joint vaccine purchase, is also planned to be delivered in the first quarter or at the latest in the second quarter.
A government official stressed that reports that domestic introduction may be delayed due to recent requests from other countries such as the United States are 100% false.
