[기상센터][날씨] The last cold wave will be released tomorrow…’Forest fire emergency’ due to strong winds on the east coast

[앵커]

A lot of snow fell mainly on the west coast in the cold of around 10 degrees below zero.

The final cold wave will gradually ease from tomorrow, but this time, a strong wind in the form of a’yangganji wind’ is expected to blow on the east coast, increasing the risk of a large forest fire.

We will connect reporters to find out more details. Reporter Jeong Hye-yoon!

Even today, the cold wind is biting.

The temperature has dropped a lot, right?

[기자]

Yes, a similar cold wave as yesterday continued this morning.

The temperature of Mt. Seorak dropped to -21.8 degrees Celsius due to the cold air in the northwest, and it was similar to or slightly lower than yesterday such as -14.2 degrees Celsius in Cheorwon, -10.6 degrees Celsius in Seoul and -7.2 degrees in Busan.

The daytime temperature will be 5-6 degrees higher than yesterday, such as 1 degree in Seoul, but as the cold wind blows, the perceived temperature is expected to remain below zero.

This cold wave is expected to ease as the temperature rises significantly from the daytime tomorrow.

[앵커]

So, is there no cold wave like midwinter now?

[기자]

Yes, after this cold wave is resolved, there will be no great cold until the end of this month.

Rather, it is highly likely that the warmer weather will continue than the previous year as the temperature greatly exceeded the previous year ahead of spring.

After the cold wave is cleared tomorrow, the daytime temperature in the interior of Seoul, including Seoul, is expected to rise close to 15 degrees on the weekend, leading to spring weather in early April.

After that, around the middle of next week, the sub-zero morning cold will come, but it will not be as cold as the average temperature is 1 to 2 degrees Celsius.

[앵커]

Glad the cold wave has eased, but from tomorrow, the strong winds are likely to be intensified on the east coast?

[기자]

Yes, it is expected that the wind will be very strong from tomorrow in the east coast areas such as Yeongdong.

This is because high pressure in the south and low pressure in the north, the southwest wind crosses the Taebaek Mountains, and it seems that the wind in the form of a’yanganji wind’ that dries at high temperatures is blowing.

Hot and dry Yangganji winds usually lead to East Coast regions such as Yeongdong between the end of February and May, and cause a large forest fire.

Currently, construction warnings are being issued centering on the east coasts of Yeongdong and Gyeongbuk, and tomorrow there is a high possibility that a gust of wind blows at a speed of about 30 meters per second and a’strong wind warning’ is issued.

In addition, a’large forest fire warning’ is being issued in the east coast area, so the inhabitants need special attention.
