The National Mall, a popular attraction in the heart of Washington DC, will be closed on the 20th local time when the inauguration of US President-elect Joe Biden will be held.
The Washington Post cited two sources, saying that the National Mall is only allowed access to media and security officials on the day of the inauguration and will be shut down entirely.
The National Mall is a large area that extends to the Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument, and the House of Parliament near the White House. It is a famous Washington DC attraction, especially during the presidential inauguration ceremony.
The Washington Post explained that it was concerned about the possibility of personal injury due to violence or acts equivalent to terrorism as a result of high-intensity security measures in the midst of the congressional invasion on the 6th.
