A suicide bomber has targeted police at a mosque in Pakistan.
The death toll continues to rise, with more than 200 confirmed casualties so far.

A mosque, a mosque within the jurisdiction of a police complex in northwestern Pakistan, has become mayhem.
Roofs and buildings were blown open, and piles of rubble piled up like mountains.
This is because the assailant blew up the suicide bomber vest while with the congregation during the service.
This resulted in hundreds of casualties, including dozens of deaths.

Hundreds of people were praying at the mosque at the time of the suicide attack, mostly police.
Rescue operations are underway using heavy equipment, but the death toll is expected to rise further.

After the attack, the Associated Press said the Taliban in Pakistan claimed responsibility for the attack.
Authorities began investigating how the suicide bomber had infiltrated the temple area, where security was strong, such as the police station.
The Taliban in Pakistan is stepping up its terrorism offensive by carrying out a series of suicide bomb attacks at the end of November and last month after suspending the ceasefire with the government in November last year.
Formed as a coalition of Islamic militant groups, they aim to overthrow the Pakistani government and build a nation under Islamic law, separate from the Taliban that has taken control of Afghanistan.
