As fears of using nuclear weapons grew after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the second hand of the ‘doomsday clock’ was advanced 10 seconds toward midnight, a symbol of doom.

The American Society of Nuclear Scientists has moved the second hand of the ‘doomsday clock’ to midnight by another 10 seconds.
It raised the level of warning, saying that the risk of using tactical nuclear weapons has increased since the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
For three years after 2020, it was kept at 100 seconds ago, but it was moved forward to 90 seconds.
