There are many cultural differences between Taiwan and Japan, including the customs of Chinese New Year. Taiwan-loving blogger “Ojisan of the Japanese” went to LaLaport, a newly opened Japanese-style shopping center in the East District of Tai’an, during the Chinese New Year. He was shocked to see a spectacular scene, and he couldn’t help shouting that he wanted to share it with his Japanese friends.

Japanese Ojisan revealed on Facebook on the 25th that when he arrived at the recently opened LaLaport in Taichung, he took a photo of the crowds during the Chinese New Year. He saw that the stairs at the entrance in the photo were crowded with people, and even the escalators inside the shopping center were full. The stands are full of shoppers, including men, women and children.

The spectacular scene of LaLaport during the Chinese New Year made him exclaim, “Taiwanese really like department stores. If a Japanese friend asks me, how is the Chinese New Year in Taichung. I want to show him this picture, and he will immediately know how lively the Chinese New Year is in Taiwan, haha .”

Taiwanese netizens were also frightened by the crowds of people shopping in the picture, and they all left messages, “This crowd is so scary”, “I’ll wait for everyone to go to work before going on a pilgrimage”, “All of Taiwan is like this, it’s scary to death”, “Is there such a thing? I love shopping in department stores, and I would never go in when I saw this kind of crowd”, “It’s like going to a shrine XD”, “I can go to various temples if I have the opportunity, worshiping temples is the daily life of Taiwanese”, “Why are there so many people here! If I come back after a while~” Japanese Oji-san also replied thoughtfully, “Currently only the South Hall is open, I suggest coming back after the North Hall opens.”
