Comedian Michi Yasue (60) of Yoshimoto Shin Kigeki held a special performance titled “Michi Yasue 60th Anniversary Celebration - If You Don’t Celebrate, I’ll Suck Your Brain with a Straw” at the Namba Grand Kagetsu (NGK) in Osaka on the 11th. Actor Kazuki Kitamura (54) made a guest appearance.
At the beginning, the stage was hosted by Eiko Sukenari and Tadashi Nishikawa, reminiscent of popular music programs from the past. Michi, dressed in a bright red dress reminiscent of 80s idols, passionately sang her debut song “Messei Ji”.
In the following new comedy, in addition to her husband Katsunori Uchiba, veteran actors such as Hiroshi Yoshida, Shigeo Tsujimoto, Sukenari, Akie Asaka, Tamayo Shimada, Hanako Yamada, and Yasushi Ishida, as well as young members, all gathered to perform a hilarious story set in the Kagetsu Udon restaurant run by Michi.
The scene that received the loudest cheers was when special guest Kitamura appeared. Kitamura, dressed in a purple suit and patterned shirt, played the role of a debt collector and even performed the “Panty Techs” routine. When Michi made her familiar sharp comment, “You look like you’re having so much fun, sweating and all. Your heart must be pounding, you chicken-hearted!” Kitamura was left speechless.
During the post-performance press conference, Michi expressed her excitement at the unexpected opportunity to work with someone she had always admired. Uchiba praised Kitamura, saying, “His rehearsal was only about 10 minutes, but he did it perfectly. I was surprised. He has great intuition, just like a person from Kansai.” Despite often wearing a microphone as a guest, Michi also mentioned that Kitamura performed without one, and she smiled and said, “I’m glad I requested that.”
The special performance by Michi Yasue and the guest appearance by Kazuki Kitamura created a memorable night of laughter and celebration for the audience at the NGK.
