On May 3rd, 2021 around 3:10 p.m. there was an accident between a truck and a panel van on the A61 between the Autobahn intersections Mutterstadt and Ludwigshafen. The 29-year-old van driver was injured and taken to a hospital in Ludwigshafen in an ambulance. Fortunately, according to the current state of knowledge, he was only slightly injured. Since the van was loaded with medical oxygen, there is a risk of fire at the scene of the accident due to the reloading measure. As a precaution, the roadway had to be completely closed during the rescue work. A lane will probably remain closed until 6:30 p.m. In addition to the Ruchheim police motorway station, the Ruchheim and Mutterstadt volunteer fire brigades, the Ruchheim motorway maintenance authority, as well as the rescue services and the rescue helicopter were on duty. There was damage of around 40,000 euros.
