A few days ago, a 69-year-old woman fell victim to a fraudster with pretended and deliberately false declarations of love. She was a tragic victim of the so-called “love scamming” scam. The woman had gained trust over the Internet in the alleged doctor from Canada, who was apparently the victim of an attack in Syria. Even when he asked her for several thousand euros for help, she did not become suspicious at first. Since the woman could not raise the amount, she even took out a loan. A short time later, however, she questioned this decision when the man posing as Axel Greg Vincent asked again for a cash payment. When she reported to the police and found out that she was a victim of fraud, her supposed happiness fell apart in one fell swoop. Her money, which she had initially transferred, has already been booked in a Lithuanian account. The second requested amount was not transferred. The police urge caution in such relationships. The scam known as “Nigeria Connection” is no longer limited to mass mails with absurd promises of profit, but also occurs in this form. Claims for money from obscure acquaintances should generally be ignored or the participant should be completely blocked.
