A traffic accident occurred in the Schelsen district this afternoon. A black Mercedes crashed into a truck for an unexplained cause. The impact was on the passenger side. The front pillar of the roof was badly deformed. The passenger injured herself and was caught in the vehicle. Passers-by already provided exemplary first aid. The fire brigade had to cut off the roof of the vehicle with a hydraulic cutting tool in order to be able to free the patient as gently as possible from the accident. During the rescue operation, the patient was looked after by an emergency doctor. Operating fluids of the vehicle have been added. One patient was transported to Krefeld by the ambulance service for further treatment and the driver, who was only slightly injured, to a local hospital. The truck driver was not injured.
The fire and rescue station III (Rheydt) and a rescue vehicle from the technology and logistics center (Holt), three ambulances, an emergency medical vehicle and the management service of the fire brigade were in action.
