With the optional end-to-end encryption in Zoom, your conversations are particularly secure against eavesdropping. This is how you activate the feature.
The popular video conference tool Zoom shines with many practical features. In contrast to WhatsApp and some other messengers, Zoom does not use end-to-end encryption by default.
Instead, Zoom only encrypts communication between its own cloud and the participants in a video conversation.
You are well protected against eavesdropping by third parties. However, there is still a theoretical risk of eavesdropping via the Zoom cloud, for example through security gaps or data misuse by Zoom itself.
To further protect your communication, you can optionally activate end-to-end encryption in Zoom. The entire data flow between the participants in a zoom call is encrypted directly.
The feature is still in the test phase and can only be used with the various Zoom apps and not with the web version. In order to be able to participate in an end-to-end encrypted conference, all call partners must also activate it manually. The following steps show you how to do this.
For your safety, you should also activate two-factor authentication in Zoom.
