The French football magazine France Football has awarded the Ballon d’Or, the prize for the world’s best football player, since 1956 on the men’s side. Last year no prize was awarded due to the corona pandemic, but now it’s time again.

Lionel Messi has won the award six times and Cristiano Ronaldo five. Of course, both players were present when the list of the 30 nominees was presented on Friday. However, it was not Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The Swede, who turned 40 this Sunday, has had an injury-filled year during both spring and autumn and has only come into play in one match this season. Then he scored after seven minutes against Lazio.

Ibrahimovic was first selected for the national team’s World Cup qualifier in October, but was forced to cancel due to injury. The forward hopes to make a comeback against Greece Verona on October 16.
