Žigats, Marija Bērziņa and others will educate children in music in a computer program

Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music (JVLMA) has created an exciting and educational music training computer program for the little ones – “Sound Forest Tale”. It can be found and used free of charge on the website www.skanumezapasaka.lv.

The program “Sound Forest Tale” has been created by specialists in their field who, being parents themselves, have a good understanding of the need for such a teaching aid – a game. The fairy tale was made visible by artist and animator Inese Vēriņa-Lubiņa, sound score by Viktors Ritovs, sound design by Pauls Dāvis Megi. The software was developed by Mārcis Meijers, but the visual, sound and digital solutions have been combined by music teacher Viktorija Jumiķe. The purpose of the fairy tale is to stimulate children’s interest in music and provide basic knowledge. Although the fairy tale can also be used as a helper at school, its 50 lessons (each with an average of 6 to 10 interactive tasks) are designed so that the child can play on their own. The fairy tale will be suitable for children from the age of four.

The author of the fairy tale, music teacher and head of the JVLMA Creative Projects Department, says: “Officially, it is a high-quality, methodologically correct curriculum, in which the child gets to know, learns and strengthens the subject with the help of a computer. But in essence, it is a fairy tale in which, together with the Wise Owl, three friends – Lācēns, Vāverēns and Zaķēns – begin to realize what music really is through adventures, games, conversations and reflections. ”

The “Sound Forest Tale” must be read, listened to and watched, but, above all, you have to take part in it yourself. The voices of the characters in the fairy tale are recognizable: Latvian National Theater actress, JVLMA lecturer Marija Bērziņa, Latvian National Opera soloist Viktorija Pakalniece, Zaķēns – JVLMA speech art teacher Jana Lāce, cozy leader. The narrator is told by Ģirts Alsters, an actor from the Jurmala Theater, the voice of cultural projects and advertisements.
