Defeat 0-2 from Shakhtar Donetsk make Real Madrid drowning in a bad period. However, Zinedine Zidane refuses to give up by not resigning.
Madrid defeated 0-2 from Shakhtar Dontesk on matchday all five of Group B Champions League took place at NSC Olimpiyskiy, Kiev, Wednesday (2/12/2020) in the morning WIB. The two winning goals for the Ukrainian champions were made by Dentinho (57 ‘) and Manor Salomon (82’).
These results mean that Madrid’s fate in the Champions League will be decided on matchday last Group B. Los Blancos are currently in second place with seven points. Their points are equal to Shakhtar’s but lost head to head, and one point adrift of Borussia Moenchengladbach at the top of the standings.
Madrid also sank deeper into a bad period due to the defeat at Shakhtar’s headquarters. They have only won once in the last five matches.
Before the poor results against Shakhtar, Madrid also lost to Deportivo Alaves 1-2, Valencia 1-4 and drew 1-1 with Villarreal. Madrid’s only win came as they silenced Inter 2-0 on matchday all four Group B.
Despite the difficult situation, the Madrid coach, Zinedine Zidane refusing to give up by not resigning. He considered that there was still hope for Madrid from their game against Shakhtar.
Madrid actually able to appear dominant against Shakhtar by recording 58 percent of the ball and making 15 shots with eight aiming at the goal. However, they were not good enough in the final finish.
“I will not resign, (it) is useless,” Zidane was quoted as saying by Marca.
“We were very good in the first half, but we failed to score. We pressed well, played well … The ball didn’t want to be a goal. We had chances, (we hit) the post … and then things got complicated.”
“I’m still strong and will give everything. I think we deserved to win. We have a chance. We can’t let our heads keep lowering. This is a bad result, but we have to keep going,” explained the French coach.
