Lebanese artist Ziad Bourji sent a direct message to the administration of the Murex D’or Awards, requesting an official response to the rumors circulating in some media outlets and social media pages, and the response came quickly through a statement.
The story began with the news being circulated that the management of “Murex D’or” contacted Ziad to hand over one of the awards to him after his colleague Wael Kfoury apologized for not attending. This is what Ziad said, in a statement in which he said: “Today I received an article saying that the Best Lebanese Artist award from Murex D’Or was for the artist. Wael Kfoury and I apologized for not attending, so they decided to give it to me, with great respect to the star artist Wael Kfoury, who I consider to be the best artist in the world, not only in Lebanon, but I demand that the awards administration respond to this public talk that harms my dignity, the dignity of Wael Kfoury, and the dignity of the awards, and also to clarify publicly whether Is this an award that will go to the one who attends or the one who achieves the most?”
The statement added: “If the choice is the first, then I will announce from now that I will not be among the attendees, and if the second choice means the result of achievements, fatigue, effort, attendance, continuous success and staying up late, which is what we do all the time, then I hope that there will be confirmation of this theory from the administration.” Murex Dor. In short, I am not a substitute for anyone.”
The management of “Murex D’Or” did not delay in responding to Ziad Bourji’s request, and issued a statement in which it explained what was happening behind the scenes of the preparations, and said: “Given some false news transmitted by a number of websites about the results and the inaccurate behind-the-scenes preparations, it is important for us to inform you that the real results are true.” It will be announced exclusively and directly on Sunday, the 17th of this month, on the LBCI screen from the Ambassadors Lounge at the Casino du Liban, and through the awards’ social media channels.” The statement added: “We also affirm our credibility that awards and honors will be distributed to the deserving stars according to the votes of the jury committees and the public. We are also important to announce that the Awards Secretariat did not inform any artist at all about the Lebanese Singing Star category other than the winning artist, whose name will be announced during the festival, so the rumors about this category in particular have ceased.”
