Zero Corona Mutation Infection, Brisbane Removes 3 Day Lockdown

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Queensland state government, Australia repeal the region lock rule (lockdown) for three days on Monday (11 /) which ended on Sunday (10/1) after there were no more new variant cases found corona virus.

Queensland Prime Minister Annastacia Palaszczuk said the lockdown would be lifted by 6pm Monday.

In the past three days the government has carried out mass tests of tens of thousands of people and tracked the spread of the coronavirus to prevent potential transmission. According to him, this action was not an excessive response to prevent the transmission of the new variant of the corona virus that was detected in Brisbane.

“We want to make sure we act fast, we act strong, we act decisively and that’s what we do,” Palaszczuk said as quoted AFP.

Even though there have been no findings of a new variant of Covid-19, he still requires residents to wear masks when indoors while on public transportation until January 22.

The number of diners at restaurants and nightclubs will be limited though lockdown has been revoked.

The Queensland Government announced to enforce lockdown after reports emerged of a cleaner at a quarantine hotel infected with a coronavirus mutation from England.

The case that infected hotel cleaners was Queensland’s first local transmission. Cleaners at the hotel are believed to have contracted the coronavirus from a traveler who returned while isolating at a Brisbane quarantine hotel.

A preliminary study by researchers said that the new variant of the B.1.1.7 coronavirus, which was first detected in the UK, could spread 40 to 70 percent faster than the previous variant.

Australia has recorded nearly 28,600 cases of Covid-19 and 909 deaths related to the coronavirus.
