Zenius, LinkAja, and JD.ID Lay Off Employees

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – A number of startups are known to have laid off employees. The hurricane of layoffs hit various startups from Silicon Valley and has already spread to Indonesia.

Overseas there is an investment application Robinhood which lays off 300 of its employees. Cameo, who only knew he had unicorn status, also cut 87 employees.

Brand aggregator company Thrasio did the same for 20% of employees. Meanwhile 150 Netflix employees were also affected by layoffs.

According to startup founders, these massive layoffs occurred because of a shift in the market that took place a few months ago. So it takes a serious pivot on the business.

The tsunami of layoffs also reached Indonesia. It was reported that three companies, Zenius, Link Aja, and JD.ID, cut the number of employees. Here’s a summary:

1. Zenius

The edu-tech platform admitted that it decided to lay off. This policy has an impact on its 200 employees. Zenius reasoned that they took this step because the company was affected by the worst macroeconomic conditions in decades.

For this reason, it is necessary to consolidate and synergize business processes to ensure sustainability. One of them is by changing roles in several business functions.

Zenius also ensures that affected employees will receive severance pay in accordance with the prevailing laws and regulations in Indonesia.
