Zeman will be transferred to the long-term care department

Visits to meet anti-epidemic measures are already possible in the long-term care department. Therefore, the head of the winning Together coalition, Petr Fiala (ODS), who intends to present the composition of the emerging cabinet to the head of state, will be able to come to the president in person. Zeman has already commissioned him to negotiate a new cabinet.

There are patients in the long-term care department who already have a cured acute health problem, but their condition does not yet allow discharge to home care. The care here is focused on stabilizing their health and also on improving their self-sufficiency.

President Miloš Zeman has been at the Central Military Hospital since October 10, when an ambulance took him here in an acute condition and in apparent unconsciousness. On November 4, he was transferred from the ICU to the standard room of the rehabilitation department.

Forecast uncertain

According to cardiac surgeon Pavel Pafek, who is a member of Zeman’s medical council, the head of state suffers from cirrhosis of the liver. Among other things, he has an established gastric tube in the ÚVN, which he received nutrition.

According to Zeman’s attending physician and ÚVN chief Miroslav Zavoral, the president’s stay in the hospital is planned for at least three or four more weeks.

Due to Zeman’s health condition, the council met for the first time on Friday, November 5. After the meeting, they said that although the president’s condition had improved in the hospital, he still could not devote himself fully to his work. According to them, it is not possible to make further prognoses, because the president’s illness is “difficult in itself to recover therapeutically.”

Cirrhosis is a chronic liver disease in which liver necrosis gradually occurs and subsequently increased ligament formation (fibrotization) and nodular reconstruction of liver cells. The most common causes of cirrhosis are viral liver infections and alcohol abuse.
