“Zelinsky Calls for Air Defense Weapons as Russian-Ukrainian Conflict Intensifies”

Sevastopol, the center of the Russian Black Sea Fleet in Crimea, was attacked by “drones” believed to be Ukrainian, yesterday, Saturday, a day after Kiev announced that preparations for its large-scale counterattack were “nearing an end.”
Andrei Yusov, an official in Ukrainian military intelligence, said that more than a dozen storage tanks for oil products in Sevastopol were destroyed in a fire, but he did not claim Ukraine’s responsibility for the attack, saying only that it was “divine punishment” after several Ukrainian cities were subjected to Russian missile strikes on Friday.
Sergei Aksyonov, the governor of Russian Crimea, said that the air defense forces shot down two drones. The Russian news agency Tass quoted the governor as saying that “a fuel tank caught fire… it may have been caused by a drone attack.”
On the other hand, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called for obtaining more air defense weapons after 28 people were killed in the Friday attacks, while British intelligence saw that the Russian attacks indicated a new strategy, explaining that “the wave included fewer missiles than those used in the winter.” It targeted Ukrainian reserve units, not infrastructure.
On the Bakhmut front in the Donbass, Yevgeny Prigozhin, the head of the Russian “Wagner” group of mercenaries, threatened yesterday to withdraw his forces from the city due to the high rate of deaths and injuries in the fighting there, and the lack of supplies, warning that the withdrawal from Bakhmut threatens the collapse of other fronts, and said: “Every day we have thousands of corpses that we put in coffins and send home,” he said, adding that he had written to Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu asking for supplies as quickly as possible.
