Zdenek Stybar puts a platoon in Vuelta a San Juan

Zdenek Stybar has won the sixth stage in the Vuelta a San Juan. The Czech from Deceuninck-Quick-Step demarcated in the final kilometer, after which he narrowly stayed ahead of the upcoming spurters. Second was Juan Sébastian Molano, third Ruby Barbier.

Remco Evenepoel did not get into trouble in the penultimate stage of the Vuelta a San Juan. If the Deceuninck-Quick-Step driver stays on his bike on Sunday, he will be the owner of the Vuelta a San Juan.

Peloton makes two early flights flutter
Saturday’s stage with start and finish at Autodrómo El Villicúm seemed to culminate in a mass sprint. Two early flights, with first Christofer Jurado, Jokin Aranburu and Veljko Stojnik and later Laureano Rosas, Mirco Maestri, Andrea Di Renzo and Agustin Fraysse, did not change that: they were a plaything for the peloton, looking for a new mass sprint.

Stybar surprises the UAE Emirates train
And so the eyes were again on Fernando Gaviria. The Colombian sprinter was supreme in two previous sprint stages and was therefore also the top favorite on Saturday to write the stage to his name. In the final kilometers the train of UAE Emirates took the lead, but after an attack by Stybar in the final kilometer the control was just as far away.

Great victory Stybar
Stybar continued his attack. At the same time, he also saw the spurters behind him set in motion. The Czech had to continue until the last meters, but in the end he succeeded in taking a sprint. Molano, who would actually put on the sprint for Gaviria, finished in second place. Barbier became third.
