The financial problems that McLaren has faced in recent weeks have been resolved. That is what team boss Zak Brown claims, just days after it emerged that McLaren was actually looking for a July hearing in London High Court not to go into receivership.
Shortly after this news, rumors arose that McLaren could be saved by a loan from the National Bank of Bahrain.
When asked about the alarming situation in Woking, Brown told Auto Motor und Sport: “The problems have been resolved. We will be hearing positive news from us in the coming days.”
Chasing victories and titles
McLaren is then well positioned for the future with the budget cap for 2021 and beyond, he added.
“We can take full advantage of the budget cap and run our program as planned. With a strong driver duo, we’ll be back on track for wins and titles,” said Brown.
However, it was rumored that the financial problems were so serious that the construction of a new wind tunnel and simulator was scrapped.
Brown said: “When the virus broke out, all programs were discontinued. Our shareholders first wanted to see how the situation would develop. Now that the financial problem has been resolved, these projects are slowly starting to get going again. We are still cautious, because we don’t know how many races there will be this year and how much income we will get, or if there will be a second wave of infections. “
“However, we are busy getting everything back in order. In five years time McLaren Racing will be worth much more money than it is now.”
