Ledegem stormed for the first ever camp of Zico Waeytens.
They were in the hall with 1,000 spectators, including many (former) cyclists. Yves Lampaert, Roubaix revelation Tom Devriendt, Jonas Rickaert, Bert De Backer, Bert Van Lerberghe, Stijn Steels, Jens Debusschere and Stijn Devolder were all present.
They saw how Waeytens very eagerly started his camp. After 3 rounds of 2 minutes, the former rider won on points.
After the race, Waeytens paid a nice tribute to Michael Goolaerts, who died 4 years ago after his cardiac arrest and fall in Paris-Roubaix. Waeytens and Goolaerts were teammates at Veranda’s Willems-Crelan at the time.
