YouTuber Recreates Famous Counter-Strike Map in Unreal Engine 5

YouTuber under the nickname Nic shared a video in which he showed his work on recreating on Unreal Engine 5 one of the most famous maps among multiplayer shooters – the cult Dust2 from Counter-Strike. Nic creates a realistic version of the map, presenting the gameplay as if it were recorded from a body camera. And now the map looks impressive.

The developer has managed to recreate lighting that is vastly superior to what we see in current versions of CS and CS2. Moreover, the use of very high resolution textures is noticeable. There is no doubt that such a fan project was inspired by the game Unrecord, which is also created on Unreal Engine 5 and provides an unusual first-person view.

The work is still far from finished. The video shows that the opponents have no animations, they just act as a filler. At least you can shoot. The sound is also far from ideal and does not even match the level of a fan project. In addition, problems with collision are noticeable. However, a couple more months of work and it may turn out to be an extremely interesting demo.

Alas, the YouTuber is creating a portfolio map and has no plans to release it to the public. True, this may inspire other fans to create a full-fledged version on UE5. Maybe it will be released as a mod for Unrecord.
