YouTube will bring picture-in-picture ‘in coming days’ to all iOS 15 users – IT Pro – News

YouTube will bring picture-in-picture mode “to all iOS 15+ devices in the coming days.” Premium subscribers have been able to test the feature since August. That test ended this month. Initially, this test should have ended at the end of October.

YouTube pip on Android

It TeamYouTube twitter account says that picture-in-picture mode is now being phased out to iOS users. After the next few days, all devices running iOS 15 should be able to use pip mode.

The video service started in August with a global test for the feature, which was only enabled by YouTube Premium subscribers. This test was supposed to end on October 31, but was later extended to early April. After that deadline, pip will stop working for some YouTube Premium users. Therefore, YouTube’s twitter account said the feature is now coming to all iOS 15 users.

Pip works on both iPhones and iPads and allows users to exit the app while the video continues as a thumbnail overlay. On Android, pip can only be used within the app with a Premium subscription, although pip also works without a subscription via the Android web version of YouTube.
