YouTube has started rolling out its new Shorts feature – it’s a platform for short videos, shot in a portrait orientation, and it’s an attempt to curb TikTok and its growing influence online. Users in the United States have started receiving the feature and the global launch is expected soon.
Shorts is currently still in Beta, so not all US users will get it after an update to their app. The company is likely doing some A / B testing, but since YouTube has been working on Shorts for the past 12 months, the stable version of the feature should be right around the corner.
