Adrian Cioroianu, director of the Romanian National Library, launched a wave of insults and accusations on Facebook at Internet users who questioned the way he behaved in the case of the doctoral thesis of the Minister of the Interior, Lucian Bode.
Cioroianu replied with a comment on Facebook to the journalist Emilia Șercan, who wrote that “from September 2016 the doctoral theses are accessible at the National Library exclusively in electronic format” – with reference to the library procedure that prohibits copying or photographing doctoral thesis.
Cioroianu, a former foreign minister and former ambassador to UNESCO, was criticized by several commentators and gave them harsh words. Among those targeted was the policeman Marian Godină, whom Cioroianu called “Mafalda”.
